Region
Montsonís, in the region of the Noguera, is a pretty nice village protected by the mountain range of the Montsec. The guests of Cal Martí can enjoy the medieval surroundings as well as the numerous activities that the village offers. Going for a walk through the streets and the stone build houses, going across the area without having to take the car, or simply enjoying the green landscape, are only examples of the attractive proposals.
Throughout the years, the village has made continuous reforms and has been equipped with all the services, nevertheless, its inhabitants have been able to maintain their historical roots; all these restorations have been made under a "Plan of protection". Some parts of the wall that protected the town before are now the walls of several houses. Some watch towers are still there and they are nowadays used as water or wine deposits.
Next to Cal Martí, is the imposing presence of the Castle of Montsonís. The medieval fortification as well as nearly all the houses of the village have been changing throughout the years, adapting themselves to today's necessities.

The castle of Montsonís is one of the castles of the tour "Castles of Lleida: a trip to the past". Guided visits of the castles enable to learn about the history of what is called the "Castilla of Catalonia".
